Introduction
The purpose of the Indico Solutions Platform is twofold. One, guideline development is a multistep process in which many content management processes are required to be completed before final drafts can be published and disseminated to the point of care. The Indico platform is designed to centralize as many of these processes. These processes include updating existing guidelines, panel voting on recommendations, internal and external reviewing of guideline drafts.
The second purpose of the Indico Clinical Guideline Platform is to provide a centralized database which facilitates the addition of metadata so as to improve the dissemination of the guideline content to the point of care. Traditional publishing methods are important pathways for guideline dissemination, however the modern healthcare setting now demands more advanced dissemination strategies. These can only occur with more advanced guideline repositories.
The trade-off for moving guidelines into a database format is a requirement for writing committees to modify some of their existing work practices away from the traditional Microsoft Office software. Indico is committed to improving/minimizing these trade-offs as much as possible.
